“If tournament popularity was the most important consideration, then I think we would create a Smash Bros. game that included a multitude of fast moves with complicated controls. However, I believe this is actually the greatest shortcoming of fighting games at present, and that is the reason why I don’t do it.”
— Masahiro Sakurai on wanting to appeal Smash Bros. to everyone
Masahiro Sakurai is the greatest, smartest man in video games right now.
In regards to the leak #3
I’m gonna stop here but consider this:
Those leaks, the video, all that. If this was real, how do you think Sakurai would feel?
Despite the fact that YOU know he went through a lot of pain -with BOTH his arms- and we also know he worked on Smash on his birthday so obviously, he goes in and works on weekends. Also the normal Monday-Friday. I’m gonna bring this point up: He doesn’t have to be in the building, in fact, he can telecommunicate to his colleagues, BUT HE GOES IN ANYWAY.
Only for all that effort to go to waste the hype and get it leaked early. That just ruins it for him and everyone else.
Put yourself in his shoes: How would YOU feel if your own project was leaked early?
"How would YOU feel if your own project was leaked early?"
As long as it didn’t stop people from enjoying it, I wouldn’t care. I mean, almost the entire roster has already been announced.
